A mass storage device that transfers data between the computer's memory and the disk storage media. Hard disks are rotating, rigid, magnetic storage disks.

Time taken to make a copy

It takes about 1 hour to make a copy of a new, healthy drive of 8GB. To copy a damaged disk takes much longer. Copying the data in a file context is also slower than making a plain image copy. During the process of analysis and recovery we may generate 3-5 copies of all data.
