Definition: Invalid files


Artificial files, incorrectly created by automatic recovery utilities like Chkdsk, Scandisk, Vrepair, Norton Disk Doctor, and many others. The content of such files do not normally have any value. This is because it may contain only a fragment of the data of the original file, or it may contain fragments of several files.

High-Level Format

A high-level format must be performed (with EZ-Drive or the Format command) on a new hard drive (in most cases) before you can use it. Formatting erases all the information on a hard drive and it sets up the file system needed for storing and retrieving files.
